Dr. Olakunle Kolawole Awoyemi

Dr. Olakunle Kolawole Awoyemi is a distinguished scholar and practitioner with a multidisciplinary academic foundation. His qualifications include a National Diploma in Banking and Finance, a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Environmental Management, a Master of Science in Geography, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Geography and Urban Development Studies. He further holds a Certificate Diploma in Behavioural Psychology and has been honored with a Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) from a Canadian university in Belize.

As a seasoned academic and researcher, Dr. Olakunle specializes in Environmental Impact Assessment and auditing, supported by extensive experience in teaching, research, and consultancy across diverse sectors.

Currently, he serves as a Researcher at the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER) and contributes as a Part-Time Lecturer in Distance Learning at the University of Ibadan, alongside roles at institutions such as Igbajo Polytechnic. His applied consultancy work includes significant contributions to government projects in areas including Transportation Impact Analysis (TIA), tourism development, and waste management.

Dr. Olakunle is also a regular columnist for several national publications, where he shares expert insights on politics, socio-economic issues, cultural affairs, and international relations.

His research portfolio is wide-ranging, encompassing tourism and migration, transport and urban development, climate change and sustainability, disaster management, indigenous knowledge systems, and rural sustainability, with a particular interest in the application of remote sensing.

Beyond academia, Dr. Olakunle is the Chief Executive Officer of MDK Multi-Global Ventures, a diversified enterprise focused on agriculture and integrated holdings.

In collaboration with peers such as Dr. Israel Ogunsumi, he has engaged in innovative research, resulting in grant awards and publications, particularly in the fields of rural health and indigenous medicine.
